Our Mission
The Gold Country Herb Society is committed to increasing the awareness and knowledge of all aspects of herbs, including history, culitvation, and end uses of herbs with relevant programs for its members, guests, and public outreach activities.
Who we are
The Gold Country Herb Faire is sponsored and produced by the Gold Country Herb Society. Formed in the early '90s, the GC Herb Society is a loosely structured group of folks passionate about herbs. It is a low key organization, that loves to learn, share and just enjoy the broad spectrum of herbal experiences.
Until 2004, GC Herb Society had a booth every year at the local Harvest Festival. This was our opportunity to give away herbs (plants and seeds), fund raise with a raffle of beautiful herbal baskets and to recruit new members. When that was cancelled, we decided to have our own event, and thus we held the first Gold Country Herb Faire in October 2005.
The Herb Faire Committee consists of active members of the GC Herb Society. Our main goal in producing the Faire is to create an event appropriate for the entire family, at no charge to the guests. Another is to produce the Faire with no government funding. Both goals have been met.
